The mobile ticketing specialist Tixmob is growing its business dramatically in the festival market. In February alone, eight festivals confirmed they are to use the company’s ticketing system this summer on top of the companies existing three festival clients.

“We are finding that festivals with a strong environmental ethic are adopting the Tixmob system as a way of helping to reduce their carbon footprint,” said Tixmob director Ramesh Kumar. “Our new customers are also attracted by the way this system beats the touts by linking buyers’ tickets inseparably to their own phones, or offering fans the option to bring their own printed ticket. Organisers of festivals of all sizes are taking an increasing interest in systems like ours and we are delighted to see these eight events leading the way.”

The Tixmob ticketing system involves sending barcodes to festival-goers, both by email and mobile phone, eliminating the need for distributing printed tickets. Fans have the choice to bring their own print outs or simply have their phones scanned at the gate of the event. The tickets can also be allocated to a named person and cross checked with ID to tackle ticket touts. Tixmob has a marketing agreement with Virtualfestival.com, allowing event organisers to communicate with their public on a regular basis before, during and after the event. This means line-up announcements, weather updates, advice and post-event news can be all texted to event-goers.

“When we were considering our ticketing options this year, we were looking for an environmental solution that offered simplicity, choice and flexibility for the customer,” said Gerard Irving of SolFest, “We explored several alternatives, but felt Tixmob offered the most customer-friendly system. Its ability to keep our ticket-buyers constantly updated via the Virtual Festivals tie up was an ingenious, value-added service.”

As well as SolFest, the new events signing up for Tixmob include FreeRange Festival, Blissfields Festival, Tidworth Rocx Festival, Chagstock, Croissant Neuf Summer Party, Belladrum Festival and the End of the Road Festival. The company’s existing customers include Summer Sundae Weekender, Bloodstock Open Air, and Leicester City Blues.
