You can put up to 450 guests under one roof in central Milton Keynes and still split the day across three rooms of different sizes, with catering, a bar and sound and lighting supplied by the same small team. Cornerstone Events is the hire business of the Church of Christ the Cornerstone at 300 Saxon Gate. The venue says the money it earns pays for the upkeep of the church building, and the rooms all sit inside it.
Event spaces and capacities
Spaces: The Worship Area, The Guildhall, The Small Hall.
Capacities as published by the venue. Source: cornerstoneevents.co.uk (the worship area, the guildhall, the small hall).
The venue publishes three hire rooms. The largest is the Worship Area, which the site describes as holding up to 450 on some pages and over 450 on others. The Guildhall takes up to 200 depending on the layout. No capacity is published for the Small Hall, and none of the rooms has a published floor area or a capacity split by layout, so ask for a capacity per layout before you plan seating.

The Worship Area is the main space inside the church. The venue says it can be set for a seated conference, a banquet or a party, has its own sound and lighting rig, and is known for its acoustics; the Milton Keynes Music Service, MK Sinfonia and MK Chorale use it every week. That makes it a fit if your programme includes live music or a performance. The Guildhall gives you daylight from a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, a ceiling the venue puts at 10 metres, and automated curtains for when you need to dim the room for slides or video. The Small Hall comes with a 55-inch LED screen and a surround sound system, and a small breakout room is on the same corridor, so a training day or board meeting can have a quiet side room without booking a second hall.
Getting there and parking
Your delegates arrive in the middle of Central Milton Keynes. The venue gives its distance from Milton Keynes Central station as 1.2 miles and says it is close to the main transport links and a number of hotels. It does not publish parking, bus or road directions on its own site, so ask the team where guests should park and whether any spaces can be held for speakers, suppliers or Blue Badge holders. The venue says all three rooms are fully accessible.
Catering, AV and accommodation
You deal with one team for food, drink and kit. Catering comes from the church’s in-house café, and the venue says it can run from tea, coffee and biscuits to a full buffet menu tailored to your budget. A bar can be added, and the school prom page mentions a juice cocktail bar. The venue also offers event planning, decorations and plate ware and cutlery hire.
For AV, the venue says it upgraded its sound and lighting in the past year. Its hire page lists an LED light effect panel, a vertical smoke machine, laser and moving head lighting, sweeping beam effects, a mirror ball simulator and a portable PA system, and this kit can also be hired for events elsewhere in the Milton Keynes area. The list leans towards parties and concerts; it does not name projectors, screens in the larger rooms or video conferencing. The venue does not list any bedrooms, so book delegate rooms at nearby hotels separately.
What to ask before you book
- What is the capacity of the Worship Area and the Guildhall for your layout, theatre, banquet or cabaret, and what is the floor area of each?
- How many people does the Small Hall seat, and how many can the breakout room on its corridor take?
- What projection, screens and microphones are available in the Worship Area and the Guildhall for presentations, beyond the lighting and effects listed?
- Which church services, weekly rehearsals and café opening hours overlap with your date, and how is access to the building managed while they run?
- Where can delegates park near 300 Saxon Gate, and is any parking or a drop-off point available for suppliers and disabled guests?
- Is the bar licensed for the hours you need, and can you bring in an outside caterer if the café’s buffet menu does not cover your event?
