City-centre concert hall at the top of Buchanan Street, hired for conferences, exhibitions and award ceremonies as well as concerts.

What the venue publishes

Glasgow Life, which operates the hall, says it was built in 1990 for Glasgow’s year as European City of Culture and is home to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. It is available for conferences, seminars, meetings, trade shows, exhibitions, award ceremonies and graduations.

For conference hire it lists the Strathclyde Suite (400 theatre style or 144 cabaret without a stage; 332 or 120 with one), the Exhibition Hall (350 theatre style or 120 cabaret) and the Buchanan Suite and The Green Room (100 theatre style each). The Main Auditorium seats 1,980 for concert hire. It publishes day-hire rates for each space. Bars and catering are run by Encore Hospitality Services, no external catering is allowed, and minimum numbers apply. Wheelchair access is from the Killermont Street entrance only.

Questions for your brief

  • Which spaces are free on your dates, given the hall’s concert programme?
  • Does the Strathclyde Suite need its stage for your format, and what does that do to capacity?
  • What are the catering minimum numbers, and how do they affect a smaller meeting?
  • How will delegates who need step-free access be directed to the Killermont Street entrance?
