Exeter Racecourse seats up to 300 theatre style in the Denman, offers 17 meeting and event rooms, and gives every guest free parking in more than 1,000 spaces, just off the A38 five miles from the end of the M5.

Why book a racecourse on Haldon Hill

You get a countryside setting without a long drive: the venue sits high on Haldon Hill outside Exeter, and most rooms look out over the course, several with balconies or patios. A dedicated event manager works with you on layouts, staging, AV, supplier access and delegate flow, then the on-site team keeps timings on the day. All rooms have blackout and the space pages list AV equipment for each one, while food and drink can be packaged with the room hire, from breakfast and working lunches to multi-course dinners. You may bring your own photographer, musicians or entertainment, and the team will discuss private tours of the course case by case. An executive box meeting offer runs until 31 December 2026.

Rooms for plenaries, breakouts and dinners

The Denman is the largest room at 221 m², with two projectors, two screens, seven plasma screens, a five-microphone PA, a hearing loop and doors to an outdoor patio. It seats 300 theatre style, 150 cabaret or 150 for dinner. The Iddesleigh Gallery, a refurbished viewing gallery on the first floor, takes 160 theatre style in 159 m², and Best Mate on the ground floor of the Haldon Stand takes 150 in 157 m², with daylight, air conditioning and a hearing loop. For breakouts, the River Rooms on the first floor of the Haldon Stand are four spaces (Tavy, Kenn, Exe and Dart) that open into one room for 160 theatre style. Smaller rooms such as the Golden Jubilee, Sabin Du Loir and Travado hold 30 to 60 delegates for training and board meetings.

Exhibitions and events with a show floor

The venue markets the Denman, Iddesleigh Gallery, Best Mate, Desert Orchid and the A.P. Bar for trade shows, product launches and B2B exhibitions, and says it offers easy vehicle access and parking for exhibitors. Your event manager helps with floor plans, stand layouts, power, rigging, licensing and health and safety. The two-tier Desert Orchid, on the second floor of the Haldon Stand, seats 150 for dinner with views across the course.

Getting there

By road, follow the A38 from Exeter towards Plymouth. Bus 39 runs from Exeter Bus Station to Newton Abbot via the racecourse, and trains run direct from London Paddington to Exeter St Davids. Parking for more than 1,000 cars is free to all guests. Step-free access runs from the main car park to the main entrance, and both buildings have lifts.
