You can put up to 1,500 guests in one combined suite, run an exhibition on 1,500 m² of carpeted floor and give your guests a pitch-side arrival when it is available, all a 10 minute walk from Haymarket Station with a tram stop at the gate. On non-match days the venue says its car park is free. Scottish Gas Murrayfield is the home of Scottish rugby in west Edinburgh, and its events are run by The Murrayfield Experience, which says every booking gets a dedicated event planner.
Event spaces and capacities
You get nine event spaces to choose from, so a conference can keep plenary, catering and breakouts in one stand. The venue’s brochure lists them and says all but The Clubhouse sit in the West Stand. The largest is the West Stand itself, the Thistle Suite and President’s Suite opened into one space for up to 1,500 guests; the venue’s catering page gives 1,100 as its largest seated dinner. The Thistle Suite on its own seats 600 theatre style and 500 for dinner, and its page lists 16 breakout rooms. Both main suites split in two with soundproof dividers. The President’s Suite and the smaller rooms are published as “up to” figures rather than by layout: President’s Suite 600, Cap & Thistle 130, The Clubhouse 130 on the website (140 in the brochure), Moncreiff Suite 60 on the website (100 across three sections in the brochure) and each of the 10 Murrayfield Boxes 20, or 14 boardroom style. No room areas are published.

Getting there and parking
Your delegates can arrive by tram from Edinburgh Airport or the city centre and step off at the Murrayfield stop by the entrance. The venue gives Haymarket Station as a 10 minute walk on its conference pages, though its concert FAQ says 20 minutes. Lothian Buses serve the stadium and there are bicycle stands. The FAQ says there are about 600 parking spaces, all free, while its catering page says free parking for up to 1,000 cars; coaches are welcome. There is no parking or bike access on match days or concert days, no car may stay overnight, and events near international fixtures may be affected. For exhibitors, the venue lists two service lifts at gates 17 and 19, three phase power, and says cars and large vehicles can be driven into the pitch viewing area for launches. Access starts at 7am, and earlier costs extra.
Catering, AV and accommodation
You keep catering with one in-house team. The venue says its menus use seasonal Scottish produce, a set menu is standard, a pre-ordered choice menu costs extra, and dietary needs should reach your planner 10 days ahead. Round tables seat 8 to 12. You can bring your own drinks for a corkage charge, but outside suppliers may not sell alcohol on site and exhibition samples are capped at 5ml. Wi-Fi is free in every suite. The venue says in-house AV is limited and extra kit is hired in at cost; an outside AV firm must show PAT certificates and public liability insurance and view the suites first. The venue says its first floor suites are fully accessible and there is a Changing Places toilet. There are no bedrooms on site; the venue’s hotel partner is the Sheraton Grand, which it puts five minutes away by car.
What to ask before you book
- Which Scotland home fixtures or stadium concerts fall near your dates, given that parking and bike access stop on those days.
- Whether the 600 or the 1,000 parking figure applies to your event, and whether coach drop-off is outside the stand you are using.
- Theatre and classroom figures for the President’s Suite and the West Stand, which are published only as “up to” totals.
- The current capacity of the Moncreiff Suite and The Clubhouse, as the website and brochure give different numbers.
- What security is included, since the venue covers events of up to 100 guests and may charge for more or for trackside arrivals.
- Minimum numbers for your date, and the cost of hired-in AV beyond the limited kit in the suites.
