You can put up to 300 delegates in one light, hybrid-ready room two minutes on foot from Leeds station, then move them into a separate catering hall for lunch without leaving the building. Packages start at £49 a head including VAT, and the venue says every one of its ten rooms is air conditioned and reached by lift. Cloth Hall Court is a Grade II listed building on Quebec Street in Leeds city centre, run by the University of Leeds Conferences and Events team. The university says it was first built for the trade in Yorkshire broadcloths, and in 2020 it served as one of ten Nightingale Courts set up to clear a backlog of criminal cases.
Event spaces and capacities
You get a plenary room, a dining space and a set of breakout rooms and boardrooms over four floors, so a 300-person conference with workshops can stay under one roof. Herringbone is the largest room, at 300 theatre style. Merchants Hall takes 250 standing or 80 for dinner, and Tweed seats 180 theatre style. The venue lists ten rooms; nine are named below. It does not publish floor areas or a dedicated exhibition hall, though it says rooms can be set up for exhibition space, breakouts and back-of-house areas as you need.

Three rooms, Herringbone, Denim and Seamstress, have auto-tracking cameras and tabletop microphones as standard, so remote speakers and viewers can see and hear the room. The venue says these rooms work with whichever online platform you choose. Wool, Tweed and Tailors have built-in AV, and Cotton has a lectern and PA for plug-and-play use. Seamstress, Tailors and Bobbin can be reserved at short notice through an instant booking tool on the venue page, for external bookings only. The whole building can also be hired exclusively.
Getting there and parking
Delegates arriving by train need no transfer: the venue gives the walk from Leeds station as two minutes, and the coach station as about 15 minutes on foot. There is no car parking on site, and the venue asks guests to come by public transport. The basement can secure up to 7 bicycles if you arrange it with the team first. The venue does not publish airport, motorway or loading access details, so ask about deliveries if you plan to bring exhibition stands.
Catering, AV and accommodation
You do not need to find a caterer. Food comes from the university’s in-house service, Great Food at Leeds, which says over 90% of its food is made on site from mostly local produce and that it supports Fairtrade. Cloth Hall Court has its own seasonal menu, currently Autumn Winter 2026/27, and the caterer says it will meet any dietary requirement. The day delegate rate is published as £49 including VAT. There are no bedrooms in the building, but the venue says you can book it together with other University of Leeds venues and residences for larger evening events or residential conferences. Cloth Hall Court holds a Gold Award from the Green Tourism scheme.
What to ask before you book
- Tweed’s cabaret figure is published as 104 / 96 and Cotton’s theatre figure as both 40 and 42. Ask which number applies to your set-up.
- Merchants Hall is a shared catering space by day and only hired exclusively in the evening. Check whether other groups will eat there during your daytime event.
- Ask what the £49 day delegate rate includes, which rooms it covers and the minimum numbers.
- With no car park, ask the team to recommend nearby parking for speakers, crew or Blue Badge holders.
- If you want stands, ask for floor areas, door widths and a delivery route, since none are published.
- For hybrid sessions, confirm whether the venue’s team runs the cameras in Herringbone, Denim or Seamstress, or whether you need your own operator.
