You can run a plenary for up to 800 in Mountford Hall, put delegates in 1,350 en-suite bedrooms in summer, and hand registration and payments to the university’s own conference team, all within a short walk of Liverpool Lime Street. Outside the vacations you still get year-round options: the Leggate Theatre and Grand Entrance Hall at the Victoria Gallery & Museum, the Greenbank Conference Centre near Sefton Park, and Ness Botanic Gardens on the Wirral. The service is the University of Liverpool’s Conference and Events team, based at Bedford House on Oxford Street, which books every space below through one enquiry.

Event spaces and capacities

Your biggest decision is timing. The Guild of Students and Teaching Hub 502, which hold the largest rooms, are only offered in the Easter and summer vacations. Mountford Hall at the Guild takes plenaries of up to 800, exhibitions, or banquets for up to 350, with catering in the neighbouring Courtyard and breakout rooms of 30 to 300. Teaching Hub 502 adds three first floor lecture theatres of 326, 317 and 266 seats plus two 80 seat rooms. Across the wider campus the university lists lecture theatres from 30 to 380 seats in the Central Teaching Hub, Management School, Rendall and Chadwick buildings, and a flat floored Gflex room for 300. Its overview page puts the general range at up to 600, and its FAQs say the city campus hosts 20 to 900 for a meeting in the vacations. No floor areas are published.

Ranges for the campus lecture theatres, seminar rooms and Greenbank boardrooms are in the field data. Capacities as published by the venue on its venues pages and in the Greenbank brochure, checked 5 November 2026.

Greenbank House has 13 rooms listed in the brochure, from six seat boardrooms to two 25 seat classrooms, priced from £190 to £240 a full day. The Sefton Suite costs £325 for a half day or £435 for a full day, and use after 5pm is charged at £35 an hour.

Getting there and parking

For a city centre event your delegates can walk from the train: the team says the campus is less than 10 minutes on foot from Liverpool Lime Street and that all its city meeting and bedroom spaces are a short walk from the station. Visitor parking on campus is limited. The two visitor car parks, at Brownlow Street and on Mount Pleasant opposite the Catholic Cathedral, are pay on exit and take cards only, at £2 an hour up to £10 for over four hours on weekdays between 7.30am and 5.30pm, and £4 or £5 off peak and at weekends. The team sends organisers a parking guide with current prices. Greenbank lists on-site parking, and Ness Botanic Gardens has large free parking.

Catering, AV and accommodation

Catering is in-house only, so you do not need to source a caterer, but you cannot bring your own. The university says menus run from a sandwich lunch for 20 to a gala dinner for 300. At Greenbank tea and coffee is £2.40 a head, or £3.00 with biscuits. Every Greenbank room has a projector and the Sefton Suite adds a lapel mic. If you want help, the conference co-ordinators offer online registration and payment through the university’s online shop, delegate emails, accommodation booking, exhibitor liaison, delegate packs and an on-site registration desk.

For residential events in summer you get 1,000 en-suite bedrooms on the city campus for nine weeks of the year, including accessible double rooms with wet rooms, and 350 room only en-suites at Greenbank Village from late June to early September. The FAQs say one hall has limited rooms all year.

What to ask before you book

  • Which of your dates fall inside the Easter or summer vacation, since Mountford Hall and Teaching Hub 502 are only offered then.
  • Which figure applies to your format: the overview page says up to 600, the Guild page says 800 for a plenary in Mountford Hall, and the FAQs say up to 900 for a meeting.
  • Whether Ness Botanic Gardens can take your numbers, as one page gives up to 160 and the FAQs give 100 for a day meeting or dinner.
  • How many cars you can book into Brownlow Street or Mount Pleasant for speakers and exhibitors, and where vans can unload for an exhibition in the Guild.
  • What the event management service costs, since no fee is published.
  • Whether the 1,000 city campus bedrooms are free in your nine week summer window, and how many accessible rooms there are.
